Former U.S. President Bill Clinton expressed his support for Greece in its effort to overcome the crisis, at a meeting with a group of Greek-American friends. The President of the Coordinated Effort of Hellenes Andrea Manatos, co-organized along with Mr. Clinton, the eighth annual dinner in Washington to support THEA Foundation, directed by Clinton’s childhood friend David Leopoulos. Mr. Clinton said over the dinner that he would do anything he can to help Greece to stand on its own feet again financially and that he would do the same for every country in the world.
As the Greek service of “Voice of America” mentioned, Andreas Manatos who has worked closely with both Mr. Leopoulos and Mr. Clinton, especially during the eight years of his presidency in the White House, said: “With the exception to President Truman who implemented the Marshall Plan that helped rebuild Greece after the Second World War, Bill Clinton has surpassed any other U.S. president in terms of achievements in support of Hellenism and Orthodoxy. And his wife, Ms. Hillary Clinton also helped to promote these issues in America over the years was she was First Lady of the United States. ”
The annual charity dinner with Bill Clinton, organized by the Public Relations firm of Andrea and Mike Manatos, has collected more than $ 800,000 to fund the THEA Foundation. It was created in the memory of the 17-year old daughter of David and Linda Leopoulos,who died tragically ten years ago in a car accident. The THEA Foundation helped improve the American educational system through the integration of innovative, artistic learning activities in schools.
