On June 23rd, Ambassador V. Kaskarelis gave an interview to Larry Kudlow on his well-known show “The Kudlow Report”. The main issue discussed were the political and financial situation in Greece and how the nation fulfills its commitments. There was some dark moments during the interview, especially when the broadcaster asked Kaskarelis what he would say to the USA citizens who give their money to IMF in order to save Greece. The Ambassador answered in the same grave tone, “that it is not about saving Greece but lending money to Greece”. On the top of it, he added that “this loan was given to Greece with extremely irrational high interests, almost double the market’s interest”.
V. Kaskarelis also stressed the fact that, “not only the Greek people but also the government are making great efforts to overcome these issues”. In the Ambassador’s opinion, Greeks are tired of the daily difficulties, the extreme austerity measures and unemployment.
At the end of the interview, the Ambassador was confident that the situation would be improved and Greece would soon overcome its financial crisis.
