Scandal Over Fake Greek Olive Oil in the U.S.A.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food is investigating the case of sale of adulterated oil in the U.S., which brought the label ”Greek extra virgin olive oil” and is ready to impose sanctions upon receipt of the necessary evidence.
The services of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food were informed by an informal complaint that some packages marketed in the U.S., with the label ”Greek olive oil”, contain non-standard olive oil and their content does not match their label.
After receiving complaints, the offices of Economic and Business Affairs of the Greek embassy in the U.S. were ordered to conduct sampling for chemical examination. Analyses made by the General Chemical State Laboratory showed that this sample was a non-standard adulterated one.
The Office of Economic and Business Affairs in New York seems to have identified the product in the local market and will provide the necessary information to Greece to take action so that this Greek olive oil is discredited from the market.
