Positive Meeting Regarding Rebuilding of St. Nicholas, NYC

Greek Church and Community leaders were invited to a dinner meeting with New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo in Albany in early May.  Delegates found him, “positively inclined towards our desires to rebuild St. Nicholas at Ground Zero,” an Archdiocese source told The National Herald.

On other fronts, The New York Post reported that “Gov. Cuomo is planning to boot the Port Authority executive director”.  Chris Ward and the legal process proceeded as a second pre-trial conference for the suit filed by the Archdiocese and the Ground Zero parish, against the Port Authority over delays in the rebuilding of the church.  This was held on May 26th.

The dinner meeting included Archbishop Demetrios of America, Reverend Father Alexander Karloutsos, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, businessmen John Catsimatides and Michael Jaharis, and Democratic fund-raiser and former candidate for Lieutenant Governor Dennis Miehl, according to the Archdiocesean source.
