Symposium for Future of Greek Education in the U.S.A.

Proposals for the Education of expatriates in the United States during the public consultation on the Greek language education in the Diaspora, sent the Regional Coordinator of the U.S. Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) Theodoros Spyropoulos to the Deputy Minister for Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious, Fofi Gennimata. Similar suggestions were collected from three other major Hellenic regions (Far East & Oceania, Central & South America and East Africa-Near/Middle) and delivered to Mrs. Gennimata by the president, Stefanos Tamvakis.

“Our goal is to create an independent, universal acceptance of the Committee on Support of Education and the Creation of the Education Fund, says, inter alia, the coordinator of the SAE USA Region, in a letter to the Deputy Minister for Education, Lifelong Learning and Religion. He continues: “We understand that in addition to the valuable assistance and support of the Greek state, we ought, following the footsteps of pioneer immigrants, to support the Greek language and generally the Greek education in the United States.”
In his letter, Mr. Spyropoulos thanked Mrs. Gennimata on behalf of the Diaspora in the U.S. At the same time, he announced that with the initiative of SAE USA, Federation of Greek-American Educators and the Federation of Greek Associations of Greater New York, a Pan-American Symposium on “The Future of Greek Education in the USA: What we can do as a community” will be organized.
The symposium, as the “Greek News”, will take place the first weekend of June.  The symposium will invite representatives of the Greek state, the Archdiocese of America and all Greek organizations, and members of boards of all Greek-American schools, teachers and academics.
