Honorary Event for 2 Greek-Cypriots, New York

On the occasion of Woman’s Day celebration, the Society of Foreign Consuls of New York honored women from five countries at a special event, held at the General Consulate of Czechoslovakia. Apart from Cyprus, they also honored Kazakhstan, Czechoslovakia, Jamaica and Poland. General Consulate of Cyprus Mrs. Koula Sophianou said: “It is an event dedicated to the women of our community. Because women here, like everywhere in the world, are fighters, mothers, teachers, wives and sisters, but above all they have a big heart fitting the whole planet. Today, we honored Despoina Axiotakis and Dr. Florentia Christodoulidou, two women who haven’t stopped fighting for their fellows and for Hellenism and have never stopped being proud of their country. The fact that this event is being held in Manhattan and that it is attended by many foreign people is a chance for us to underline the presence of Cyprus”.
