General Greek Consul Balta Awarded in New York City

The General Consul of Greece, Mrs. Agi Balta was awarded in New York for being a woman and for her contribution to society. The event was organized by the WIN organization which deals mostly with issues about women, their health and their progress. The President of the Organization is Florentia Christodoulidou, a Greek Cypriot doctor who during the last decades has offered her services free -when needed- to Greek students and Greek citizens without social insurance. In her speech, the Greek General Consul has mentioned the offer of every female organization, saying that she doesn’t deserve such discrimination because in that room she sees many women who do an exceptional work with their contribution to the Greek American society. The award was concluded by the Greek Consul stating that it today goes to her mother and to every mother who during that harsh time, without even the basic supplies, faced an uncertain future and kept up and finally won. “Let’s all take a lesson from that example”, stated the General Greek Consul.
