"Trojan Women" Tragedy Performed by Wesleyan University School of Theatre Arts, Illinois

The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Theatre Arts will present the ancient Greek tragedy, Trojan Women. The performances will be held from February 15th to 19th at 8 p.m., with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on February 20th. All performances will be held at McPherson Theatre located at 2 Ames Plaza East in Bloomington.

Written by Euripides, Trojan Women was first performed in 415 B.C. The play tells the story of the women left standing in the aftermath of the city of Troy’s destruction. Characters from Greek mythology such as Helen of Troy, the god Poseidon and the goddess Athena are also woven into the story. For this production, the School of Theatre will use a translation by Diskin Clay.
