Known as a “restaurant town,” this past month has been a busy one for new restaurant openings in Chicago, including several Greek restaurants in the Chicagoland area.
In Niles, Ill., the Aegean Isles has recently opened. Located at 7201 N. Caldwell, it’s planning to host klarina nights every Friday and Saturday evening and will be specializing in fresh seafood. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
Travel to the north side of the city, in the heart of the former “New Greektown North,” for Broken Plate. It’s located in the old Lefkos Pirgos Cafeneion, at 2547 West Lawrence Avenue. The menu is simple and traditional. They’re open daily and will offer delivery service within a 2 mile radius of the restaurant from 4 pm to 11 pm.
In the Northwest suburbs, check out Menalon, at 500 North Ela Road in Lake Zurich, Ill. They’re open from 10 am to 11 pm.
Not Greek per se, but Greek owned and definitely Greek at heart, Meli has opened a sister location in Downtown Chicago. Meli on Grand is located at 540 N. Wells at Grand Avenue. With the same owners, same great menu as Meli Cafe & Juice Bar in Greektown, Meli on Grand opened on December 14.
