AHEPA Sends Letter to Hillary Clinton Denouncing Turkish Cypriot Authorities Regarding Orthodox Services

AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association), reacted sharply to information reporting that Turkish Cypriot authorities forced Orthodox churches in northern Cyprus to cancel Christmas church services.
The President of AHEPA, Nicholas Karakostas (photo), condemned the alleged incident in his letter, dated December 28, 2010, to the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Karakostas has also stressed to the U.S. government to condemn: “this flagrant violation of fundamental personal and religious liberties in the occupied area of Cyprus on Christmas day.”
According to information that AHEPA had, the churches affected by this incident were the church of Holy Trinity and St. Sinesios in Rizokarpaso. So far, official sources have not confirmed any of this information.
