Greek-American Wilson Lost NY Comptroller Race

Greek – American Republican comptroller candidate Harry Wilson conceded this morning in his race for state comptroller against Democratic incumbent Thomas DiNapoli in New York.
DiNapoli held a 3% point lead against Wilson with 97% of votes counted; about 110,000 votes. That was enough of a lead where even the absentee ballots wouldn’t be enough for Wilson to have a chance.

The race was called around 2 a.m. this morning. Wilson pointed out that he outpolled the top of the Republican ticket by more than 450,000 votes and won every region of the state, except New York City.
“I am enormously proud of the substantive race we ran, but, at the end of the day, we fell just a little bit short,” Wilson said in a statement.

The comptroller is elected to a four-year term and is paid $151,500 annually.
