Greek Director Vardis Marinakis Visited Chicago

Greek director Vardis Marinakis greeted guests recently at Chicago’s Club 33, at an event hosted by the National Hellenic Museum. On his first-ever trip to the US, the director was in town for the 46th Chicago International Film Festival, where his film “Black Field” (Mavro Livadi) was screened.

Marinakis studied at London’s National Film School, and has directed international award-winning short films like “Defteri Fysi” (Second Nature) and “Summer Love” as well as numerous television commercials.”Black Field,” his feature film debut, has been nominated for the Hellenic Academy Awards for Best New Director, Best Cinematography, Best Costumes and Best Sets.
