Chicago Woman Elected DOP Grand President

At the recent 88th Annual AHEPA Supreme Convention in Montreal, Quebec, The Daughters of Penelope (DOP), a preeminent international women’s organization, elected Christine K. Constantine of Vernon Hills, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, as Grand President for the 2010-2011 administrative year.

“It’s a great honor to be elected Grand President,” said Constantine, who is a member of Zoe Chapter 311, Glenview, Ill. “I look forward to working with the Grand Lodge and the members to take our existing successful programs in education, philanthropy and social services, to greater levels to the benefit of the community.”

Constantine is a 39-year member of DOP and has served in various positions at regional and national levels of the organization. In 2009-2010 she served as Grand Vice-President and from 2001-2003 served as District 13 Governor.

The newly-elected Grand President was born and raised in Ames, Iowa. She is a graduate of AIB of College of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. Constantine is a manufacturer’s sales representative in the hospitality/contract furniture sector. She also works part-time as an accountant’s assistant.

Founded in San Francisco in 1929, the Daughters of Penelope is the first women’s organization of its kind established in the US. It’s an affiliate organization of the American Hellenic Progressive Association (AHEPA).

The mission of the DOP is to promote the ancient Greek ideals of Hellenism, Education, Philanthropy, Civic Responsibility, Family and Individual Excellence.
