Elvis Presley’s statue has left the building

Someone stole a 7-foot statue of Elvis Presley that had been bolted to the roof of a Greek restaurant in Maryland since 2001.

Maria and Dimitrios Pigiaditis, owners of the Happy Day Diner in Rosedale, said security-camera footage shows a white van pulling up to the restaurant Wednesday night, when they believe the fiberglass statue was taken, The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday.

The owners said the thieves apparently broke the statue from the roof, leaving part of Elvis’ feet bolted in place.

Maria Pigiaditis said the previous owner of the restaurant purchased the statue of the King from an antique store in 2001 for $1,500.

Baltimore County Police are investigating the theft.
