Democratic Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias is continuing to rehabilitate his campaign after his family’s bank failure by touting his agenda to help working families.
Giannoulias said he backs paid family medical leave so workers don’t have to go unpaid if they have to care for a relative or become seriously ill themselves.
The Illinois state treasurer had the help of two prominent working women on Thursday to highlight his agenda. He was joined by city of Chicago treasurer Stephanie Neely and his chief of staff, Robin Kelly, who is running for Giannoulias’ treasurer job in November.
Giannoulias is trying to keep the Senate race focused on the issues in the wake of the failure of his family’s Broadway Bank last month.
He is locked in a tight race with Republican Mark Kirk.
