For the business-savvy community anywhere in North America interested in exploring the markets of Southeastern Europe and vice-versa, and that, for the purpose of widening their commercial reach in newly-discovered areas both in the private and the public sector, we’ve got great news. Preparations are under way for the launching of one of the most visible-and viable-of facilitators, the 19thHermes Expo International, which begins with a multi-faceted networking event on 22 April, 2010 in New York and culminates with a trade fair at the Tropicana of Atlantic City, the weekend of 24-25 April, 2010.

The five networking targets incorporated in the ostentatious plans to be tackled during 19th Hermes Expo International event are skillfulness, awareness, the wide network comprised of business people, the larger percentage on non-Hellenes in attendance, the strategically significant collaboration with mainstream carriers, not to forget all the new features instituted this year, making the Expo irresistible from the point of view of innovation in imports/exports and the promotion of Tourism and Technology in Greece.

INAUGURAL EVENT IN NEW YORK CITY AND INTRODUCTION OF KEY PLAYERS
This event will take place on Thursday, April 22, 2010, 4 to 8:30 pm, beginning with the:
The presentation of Business

Delegations arriving from Greece, Romania and other South-Eastern European nations, (including exhibitors and officials) between 4-5 pm.
A Press
interviews with participators, 5 pm.
A wine-tasting session along with
the partaking of Greek dishes and flavors, organized in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce, Queens, and the Trade Office of Greece, the Hellenic Medical Association at the Museum of Modern Art, at Flushing Meadow-Corona Park.

Participating in the inaugural as well as the wine-tasting event are most Expo participating enterprises Hellenic American and non-Hellenic, plus the most visible Greek Cuisine establishments and Food Wholesalers and Retailers, (Restaurants Kellari, Avra, Aegean Cove, Wholesalers Titan and others.)

As Trade Office of Greece director Dr. Nicholas Bellias pointed out, “This international Expo constitutes a bond of Greek Entrepreneurship within the local community and creates inventive opportunities in the American market at large. There exists a substantial attendance to this event and our Office has encouraged the establishment of such of wine and food tasting events whether they are being held in Manhattan or Queens or anywhere else as a support towards the Hermes Expo International event, which is a noteworthy forum for convening businesspeople and an entrepreneurial link..”

THE GREENING OF HERMES, ITS SYMPOSIUM AND EXPOSITION: HAPPENING AT THE TROPICANA, AC on April 24 and 25, 2010
The objective of this 19th consecutive Hermes Expo International is to create a window of opportunity for fellow-Hellenes as well as philhellenes in the American business world, to strike deals with one another, and by extension, to search for new opportunities in the new markets of the Balkans. And since the entire world has been promoting ‘green’ as a way of saving the planet, this year’s Symposium is dedicated in “Green Growth” as it unfolds at the TROPICANA on April 24, 2010.

One more innovation expected to dazzle this year is a methodology developed by Recycling and Energy cooperatives introducing technologies with the possibility of worldwide application, cooperatives yearning to meet not only with corporations but with officials from townships and prefectures interested in this science. “It is indeed a unique opportunity to promote our product to the American as well as the Hellenic-American business community, says the director of the Greek Tourist Organization in the US George Tamvakis. “Visitors to the Hermes Expo International event are friends of Greece, therefore good conductors of the message of our identity as a tourist destination.”

The Symposium will feature topics and speakers on Waste, Recycling, Renewables…All “Green” Environmental Technologies and Services, Travel and Tourism, Telecommunications, Food Products & Services, Banking and Finance, Transportation tech, New Medical Tech, Education.

THIS MAJOR ETHNIC EXPO WILL FEATURE 100 BOOTHS, MANY LOCAL, LOTS FROM OVERSEAS
“Hermes Expo International embraces all Hellenes as well as the thousands of Philhellenes who attend its works,” declared its President, Paul Kotrotsios. “Our fair serves the kind of businessmen and trades-people, beyond the mere promotion of their wares and services.”

As in previous years, once again Greece will be honored with tributes to what has resulted in the signing of an agreement creating the Sisterhood of the Municipalities of Thessaloniki and Philadelphia and their equivalent institutions, such as Consumerism and Cultural cooperation. It was the result of an agreement between the two cities’ officials. HELEXPO, Thessaloniki’s Annual International Fair is also in the mix. The administration at the Ministry of Tourism, along and its representative division in the US, the Greek Tourist Organization, constitute a major sponsor of this event. Other services and administrations in Greece, invited to participate are the Ministry of Education, the secretariat general of the New Generation of OPE, the region of Crete, Chambers of Commerce from various areas and corporations such as Pettas Construction-Betanet. There have been feelers for participation from the Prefecture of Kavala, the Municipalities of Larissa, Patras and Aegio and from Chambers of Commerce of Achaia and Piraeus.

Romania, a Balkan nation to the north of Greece is taking part this year with eight businesses aside from the Municipality of Bucharest. Canada is also coming in with several private companies, US organizations such as the Queens Chamber of Commerce, the Amalgamation of Chambers of Commerce of southern New Jersey and the Trade organizations of Greater Philadelphia. All this is in addition to the Hellenic American community’s participation across the mid-Atlantic seaboard, the Pan Gregorian Cooperative group and many others.

A NETWORKING DINNER AND AWARDS PRESENTATION AND ENTERTAINMENT
The Dinner with an attendance of upward from 500 professionals will culminate in the presentation of awards to the following individuals for their contributions in their respective areas of endeavor:

JOB FAIR: Business and Professional individuals volunteer their time in finding jobs for young graduates in every possible field.
